How To Check-in
(Check-in Registration)

  • Our machiya homes are private holiday homes rentals located in Takayama City.
  • There is no front desk or staff at the machiya holiday house.
  • You must complete your Check-in Registration in person
    at the MACHIYA INNS & HOTELS Check-in Desk (10AM-7PM) before going to your reserved machiya house.
  • The MACHIYA INNS & HOTELS Check-in Desk in Takayama city is located on the 1F of 'eph TAKAYAMA Hotel'.

How to complete your Check-in Registration

  1. STEP 1 Prepare Your Passports Our staff will take a copy of all guests’ passports.
  2. STEP 2 Fill in a Registration Card 1 Guest (reservation representative) will fill in 1 registration card for the entire group.
  3. STEP 3 Receive your Machiya House Door Code (Keypad Code) You will not be able to enter the house without your Machiya House Door Code.
  4. STEP 5 Machiya House Check-in (3PM~)Machiya Inns & Hotels After you have completed your registration, you may enter your machiya house after 3PM~.
    Open the door using your Machiya House Door Code (Keypad Code).

Are you planning on arriving in Takayama city early? We offer our guests free luggage storage between 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM at our check-in desk.

We'll also deliver your luggage straight to your house so you can start exploring Takayama hassle free!
(You won't need to be at the house to receive your luggage, as we'll place it inside of the machiya house.)
How to travel from Tokyo to Takayama City (via Toyama City) ⬇︎
Via Toyama City
  1. From Tokyo, arrive at Shinjuku Station and take the JR train to Omiya Station.
  2. [Transfer] From Omiya Station, take the Shinkansen to Toyama Station (via the 'Kagayaki' Shinkansen Bullet Train).
  3. [Transfer] From Toyama Station, take the express train (via the 'Wide View Hida' train) to Takayama Station.
Total Travel Time: Approximately 3 hours and 50 minutes
How to travel from Tokyo to Takayama City (via Nagoya City) ⬇︎
Via Nagoya City
  1. From Tokyo, arrive at JR Shinagawa Station.
  2. [Transfer] From Shinagawa Station, take the Shinkansen to Nagoya Station (via the 'Nozomi' or 'Hikari' Shinkansen Bullet Train).
  3. [Transfer] From Nagoya Station, take the express train (via the 'Wide View Hida' train) to Takayama Station.
Total Travel Time: Approximately 4 hours and 20 minutes
