KYOTO
THE MACHIYA KAZAHAYA Machiya × Kyoto × Art × Discovery

Kyoto is a city home to art, history, and culture. A convergence of the distinct Kyoto-esque culture, historical architecture, and unique townscape - this city itself is beautiful piece of art worth exploring.

And within this townscape is where THE MACHIYA KAZAHAYA lies. A traditional space that captures the city’s essence, aesthetics, and spirited motion. A space for travelers to find the inspiration in the art of living Kyoto.

A Modern Twist on Tradition Kyoto through art and the machiya

Rooms feature art that combines classic Japanese motifs and buoyant geometric shapes. Delicate flower patterns overlaying a vibrant indigo blue is a modern take on the age-old aizome dyeing craft. Waves of green and gold combined with graphic shapes seem modern at first glance, but in fact evoke images of the tiled Japanese sayagata pattern.

Along with original wooden beams, traditional Japanese architecture, modern facilities and more, this is the perfect balance between tradition and modernity - an embodiment of Kyoto-personified.
