On the 1F is an open-concept dining room with a large island kitchen. Relax and converse with your family & friends in this space while enjoying a movie or video on the projector. The spacious bathroom on the 1F features a hinoki wood bath and a sauna (optional). Choose to sleep on comfortable western-style beds or relaxing Japanese futons on the 2F. This private Japanese holiday house is available for rent for one group per day.
This Kanazawa house is ideal for couples and groups of families & friends of up to 7 people who wish to experience the charm of a renovated 100-year-old traditional Japanese machiya house. For even larger groups, you can also reserve the neighboring ‘Kanata’ machiya house to stay with up to 15 guests.

The open-concept dining room & kitchen in this traditional Japanese house share a space that incorporates the characteristic ‘doma’ flooring of machiya homes. The ‘doma’, once earthen floors that acted as a halfway point between the indoors & outdoors, has now been updated to fit the renovated style of this machiya house. You can also connect your smartphone or Youtube to our projector for a modern cinema experience inside of a traditional Japanese machiya house. Enjoy a movie on the projector screen while enjoying a meal.
Surround yourself in the warmth of wood by taking a refreshing bath in in this Japanese ‘hinoki’ cypress bathtub. The shoji-style sliding doors allow for soft light to illuminate the space for a calming atmosphere. You can also use the blinds for privacy when using the bathtub, or open them up to allow natural light into the machiya house.
Custom bath amenities (shampoo, conditioner, body soap), bathroom amenities, and bath towels and face towels are available for each guest to use.

Get a good nights sleep in the Western bedroom on the second floor. You will find 2 single beds, a desk, and a closet with a safe and clothing steamer for your convenience. There is also an additional space for you to hang your clothing during your stay.
If you’re looking for an authentic Japanese experience, sleep on futon beds while staying in this Kanazawa machiya. ‘Hotori’ machiya house has 2 Japanese-style rooms on the second floor. The first features a traditional lattice window design which allows in plenty of natural light. Up to 3 futon beds can be set up in this room. For larger groups, the second Japanese-style tatami room can accommodate up to 2 futon beddings. You can also use the space to store any luggage or simply to relax during your time in Kanazawa city.
‘Hotori’ machiya house features a kitchen island and a dining table with comfortable seats so that you can enjoy a friendly conversation while cooking. The kitchen is fully equipped with cutlery, tableware, cooking utensils, microwave, toaster, rice cooker, wine cellar, and more. Pick up some local delicacies or fresh produce from Omicho Market and prepare light meals during your stay.
